Max Mendelson

Student, builder, and researcher working where dentistry meets software.

Hi, I'm Max — the maker behind PerioMaxer and SmileMaxer. I'm a student at the University of Maryland with a long-running obsession for using technology to solve real clinical problems.

Over the past few years I've been lucky enough to work on research projects that sit right at the intersection of biology and computing — applying 3D modeling, 3D animation, and 3D printing to dental and medical questions alongside faculty at the School of Dentistry. That work is what ultimately pushed me toward building PerioMaxer: I kept watching clinicians lose time at the keyboard when their hands belonged on the instruments.

PerioMaxer is my attempt to give that time back. It's a voice-first periodontal charting tool that stays entirely on-device, so patient data never leaves the operatory. I'm building it independently, designing it in SwiftUI, and iterating with feedback from practicing hygienists and periodontists.

When I'm not coding I'm usually printing something, animating something, or overthinking the edge cases of something. If any of that overlaps with what you're working on, I'd love to hear from you.
